Chandigarh, November 10, 2016: North East is being celebrated with gusto at Panjab University (PU) in the coming few days. The celebrations begin with NSS, PU along with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Regional Centre, Chandigarh would organize a two day North East Youth Leadership Fest 2016 on November 12 and 13 at the PU
Auditorium.
The Fest aimed at ‘Connecting Communities through Culture’ is designed to promote unity in diversity while showcasing the uniqueness of North-East diverse culture, communities and tribes. Over 1000 young delegates from across Northeast India are
likely to attend the Fest. Panjab University’s Community Radio Jyotirgamaya 91.2 MHZ is also participating in this celebration through its programmes. In a special broadcast, the Regional Director of the RGNIYD Mr. Stanzin Dawa has emphasized that
through this Fest Prime Minister Modiji’s Dream of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ would take a giant leap forward.
It is a pleasant coincidence that the catchment area of PU outside of Chandigarh is mainly concentrated in eight states and union territories of North West part of India represented by Panjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir,
Uttarakhand, parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, and the North-Eastern India too is representative of eight states (Seven Sisters and 1 Brother) namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. The
events are a celebration of our unity in diversity.
Continuing with the North-Eastern flavour, the prestigious PU Colloquium Lecture scheduled on November 15, 2016 focuses upon the North-East. Sh. Shiv Kunal Verma, a renowned author and producer of highly acclaimed films has been invited to share his thoughts on the theme ‘Blanks on a Map: A journey through the North East ’ at the Auditorium of Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, PU. Sh. Verma’s talk is based on his works including a pictorial on The Northeast Palette which was a prelude to the highly acclaimed Northeast Trilogy (KaleidoIndia) and 1962 – The War That Wasn’t, his latest work, is being hailed by critics as the most definitive work on the Indo-China conflict.
