CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 18, 2019: Punjab Government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission’ scheme under the dynamic stewardship of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh got a major boost with 14,298 more youth getting placed in various private companies, besides another 1429 facilitated in getting themselves self-employed during the first five days of the latest Mega Job Fairs being across the state.

Of the 30,993 youth interviewed, 3973 were shortlisted at the fairs held in 20 districts, namely Amritsar, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Sangrur, SAS Nagar (Mohali) besides at Barnala, Moga, Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Fatehgarh Sahib, Roopnagar and Jallandhar from February 13 and 17.

Nearly 50% youth of the state who participated got selected on the first five days of the ongoing 10-day job fairs, being held at 53 venues across the 22 districts till February 22, 2019. Enthused by the overwhelming response received during the job fairs, Chief Minister has asked the Department of Employment Generation & Training to further intensify its efforts to provide maximum jobs to the youth.

Highly appreciating the stupendous endeavours of the Employment Generation & Training Department in facilitating over 5 lakh youth in getting jobs (at the rate of 700 jobs a day), besides coordinating with the banks for arranging loans to fund their self-employed ventures, the Chief Minister asked all the concerned departments to further synergize their efforts towards ensuring accelerated job opportunities to all the employable youth in Punjab.

Captain Amarinder Singh also directed the authorities to explore more employment and entrepreneurship avenues to facilitate the jobless youth for getting gainfully employed.

Notably, of the 5.34 lakh youth facilitated till now under the scheme, 37542 youths got jobs in the government and 1.55 lakh with private sector, while 3.35 lakh have been provided assistance under various self-employment schemes. The District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprises (DBEEs) in all districts have becoming the nodal centres for the job seekers.

The youths desirous of availing facility of employment opportunities under this ambitious scheme can visitwww.pbemployment.gov.in for further information and details related to schedule of interviews for venue wise and date wise vacancies. Job aspirants could also themselves register at ghargharrozgar.punjab.gov.in or they can visit the employment office of concerned district for further details. In case any unemployed youth reach a mela venue directly he/she can also participate in the interviews on the spot.
