Complex heart valve replacement surgery performed at Ivy Hospital

Amritsar, January 16, 2019: A complex heart surgery has performed successfully at Ivy Hospital, Amritsar.

Addressing a press conference at Ivy Hospital here today, Dr Pankaj Goel, Director and Chief Heart Surgeon said that Nirmal Singh the patient was diagnosed with a leakage in his aortic valve about a year ago. He delayed surgery and developed jaundice and heart failure. He was denied surgery by various hospitals as his heart had become big with pumping capacity of heart decreasing considerably.

we took up the challenge to treat the patient. Using the latest techniques, patient was operated upon and his valve was replaced. The operation was successful and Nirmal Singh has returned to normal active life in one month, remarked Dr Pankaj.

We are very much satisfied with the result as it was nothing less than a miracle to save patient life, he maintained.

Meanwhile the heart surgery department at Ivy Hospital is providing world class care at nearly the half the cost of hospitals in Delhi. The department is now performing all complex aortic and valve surgeries routinely.
