Nauni varsity’s Neri College gets ICAR’s accreditation

In a significant achievement, the College of Horticulture and Forestry (COH&F), Neri in Hamirpur, which is a constituent college of the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni has been granted accreditation by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The accreditation was granted during a meeting of the ICAR held earlier this month. The college was established in the year 2011 as an Institute of Biotechnology and Environmental Science. In 2014, it was renamed as College of Horticulture and Forestry, thus becoming the third constituent College of the University. Three batches of BSc Horticulture and B Tech Biotechnology and one batch of BSc Forestry have passed out from the college till date. The university had started the accreditation process in November 2017. The accreditation committee visited the college in December last year. This year in June, Dr NS Rathore, Deputy Director General (Education) visited the campus to verify the recommendations of the accreditation certification committee. After meeting all the standards of ICAR, the college was granted recognition for a period of five years. With the recognition, the university will be provided funding support by ICAR for educational activities including funds for hostels and classrooms in the college. The students of the fourth year will also be given a stipend of three thousand rupees under Rural Area Work Experience (RAWE) programme. Moreover, students from all over India, who pass the ICAR entrance examination, will also be able to take admission in the college. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Parvinder Kaushal, Vice-Chancellor lauded the efforts of all the scientists, staff and students and congratulated them for this achievement.
