National Science Day celebrated at Biochemistry

Chandigarh, February 28, 2019: National Science Day was celebrated by the students of Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh in a different way on February 28, 2019. They discussed the importance of balanced diet and Nutrition with the students and staff of the Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora on February 28, 2019. Small experiments relevant to day to life were demonstrated in the school and explained in a logical manner, by way of charts and quiz. Enthusiastic students of the school were also shown the method of vermicomposting and how, at a small scale, the same can be carried out in their homes by using kitchen and garden waste. Chairperson Professor Archana Bhatnagar emphasized on the message of Prime Minister about a healthy India being possible only when each one is healthy. She further said that such an interaction of students of M.Sc. Biochemistry with school students brought the two together through simple scientific activities and encouraged students to ask questions and promoted effective participation. The Principal of school, Mrs. Kiran Bala felt that this was a very encouraging way of promoting not only science, but also enabling the students to think scientifically.
