Conclave on Exploring Potential Career Opportunities in Biotechnology Field

Ludhiana, April 4, 2019: PCTE Faculty of Biotechnology organized its conclave at the campus today where Dr.Jagdeep Singh Sandhu – Biotechnologist, Punjab Agricultural University, Mr.Rohit Mankotia - Circle Head at LifeCell International Pvt Ltd and Mr T C Yadav- Senior Research fellow at IIT Roorkee shared their knowledge and discussed on the topic “Exploring Potential Career Opportunities in Biotechnology”. Aspiring young biotechnologists from different schools and colleges seeing their career in the Biotechnology field attended the conclave.

Dr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu discussed Biotechnology as an emerging career opportunity in varied fields including Crop improvement, Food Technology, Nutrition, Medicines, Healthcare, Forensic Sciences, etc. He further added that a course in Biotechnology enables students to contribute towards agricultural and medical sciences.

Mr. Rohit Mankotia discussed and enlightened the students on stem cell technology as one of the revolutionary fields of Biotechnology. He elaborated the utilization of stem cells to treat various genetic diseases and where biotechnologists can contribute in this emerging field.

Mr. TC Yadav is a person of Bioinformatics dealing with drug design & drug discovery. He elaborated the usage of software and tools to manage the vast biological data. He discussed numerous techniques to engineer biomolecules to be used further in research and disease-related studies.

Dr. Yogesh Gupta, Director of Pharmacy Department said that the motive behind organizing the conclave was to create a platform for learning for the students from the accomplished people of the respective area. The conclave was a huge success and received an overwhelming response from the students,
