Municipal Corporation Ludhiana passes Rs.1286 crores budget for 2016-17

Ludhiana, March 28, 2016: Budget of Rs.1286 crores for fiscal 2016-17 was passed at the general house meeting of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana on Monday. Addressing the House, the Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria termed the budget as “good” and “progressive” for the masses. He hoped that the budget would be helpful in extending the basic facilities to the city residents.
Of the total budget amount, 65 percent amount has been earmarked for the development works. Besides, 31 percent funds of the total budget are supposed to be incurred on departmental expenses and 4 percent on emergency works.
Among others, GK Singh Dhaliwal, Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana was present.
Leader of Opposition in the House and Congress municipal councillor Hem Raj Aggarwal demanded that there should be separate meeting hall and guest house of the Corporation. In reply, Municipal Commissioner GK Singh Dhaliwal opined that a Councillor Club has been set up in the Indoor Stadium of municipal corporation and the municipal councillors could use it to rest and enjoy.
