Municipal Corporation Ludhiana issues work orders for installation of 6 RO plants

Ludhiana, July 21, 2016: The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has issued the work orders for the installation of 6 RO plants in various parts of the city on Thursday. The RO plants has to be installed in those areas where there is acute problem of water contamination. The agency would install the plants and maintain them for seven years.

The work has been allotted to M/S Hi-Tech Sweet Water Technology private limited. The tender has been allocated at Rs 53.74 lakh while total cost of project was Rs 63.60 lakh. One RO will have the capacity of 2000 liters per hour. People will have to shell out Rs 15 paise per liter in the form of maintenance cost and electricity dues to the agency for getting treated water.

The Superintendent Engineer of Operation and Maintenance Cell Kamlesh Bansal told that total 9 Ros are to be installed as work orders for 3 were issued earlier and now they have issued orders for 6 more Ros. He told that they would now finalise the locations for installation in a day or so.

Meanwhile the MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori told that work orders have been issued to the firm after completing all the formalities and very shortly installation procedure would begin so that public should get RO water.
It is pertinent to mention here that the proposal to install the ROs was prepared in August 2013 but it took a long time for the department to get technical approvals for implementation. The approximate cost of one RO is Rs 10.60 lakh. In the first phase work orders for 3 Ros were issued and now for 6 Ros also MCL has issued the work orders.
