MJDMA & UBM INDIA ANNOUNCE THE GRAND 12th EDITION OF THE GEM & JEWELLERY INDIA INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION (GJIIE)

Chennai, 4, 2016: Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association (MJDMA) and UBM India are back once again with the mega B2B gem and jewellery extravaganza – the Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) at the Chennai Trade Centre from October 7-9, 2016. The three-day expo which is represented by over 350 exhibitors and participants will see jewellery wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, and representative from trade and governmental organisations, all come under one roof to meet, connect, network and grow their business. The exhibition will also have delegate representation from Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai, thus substantiating the international reach and presence of GJIIE 2016.

This year, the expo will witness participation by leading players from Chennai, Trissur, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Madurai, Cochin, along with Mumbai, Hyderabad, Rajkot, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Kolhapur, Calicut, Surat, and Vijayawada, to name just a few. Some of the exhibitor names include Emerald, Krizz, Royal Chains, Sangam Chains, Damara Gold, Jewel Park, Mehta Gold, White Fire, Laxmi Diamonds, Bonitas Diamonds, Chain N Chains, Angel Gold, Anmol Swarn, Silver Emporium, Derewala, Harish Creations and Ashlyn Chemunnoor.

The key highlights of the expo include technical seminars on ‘Purity & Standard’ by the Bureau of India Standard. Also for the first time, GJIIE 2016 will witness the Tamil Nadu Retail Jewellers Awards, a unique initiative honouring the best in the retail jewellery business in the region.

Speaking on the announcement of GJIIE 2016, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “India is one of the largest consumers of gold and South India continues to be the leading consumer of it within the country. The region has an enviable legacy in ornaments that includes Temple Nakshi Jewellery, Stone Studded Jewellery, and Bridal Jewellery such as Manga Malai, Kasu Mala and Pachhi Designs, to name a few. These will be showcased at the expo along with more contemporary, trendy patterns. UBM India’s endeavour through GJIIE 2016 is to support the established and upcoming centres of excellence in jewellery in the Southern region and provide a continuous support to them and the industry at large.”

Speaking on the announcement of GJIIE 2016, Mr. Jayantilal Challani, President, MJDMA said, “With the sector witnessing changes in consumer preferences, and a greater demand for contemporary designs, we see an opportunity for growth in India’s organised jewellery retail sector. UBM India’s GJIIE is the right platform for the industry to showcase their latest offerings to the jewellery retailer.”
