MEMORY RECALL: Badal Reminds Youth Of Barbaric Military Attack On Sri Darbar Sahib By Then Cong. Govt.

Bhagowal (Gurdaspur), June 9, 2016: Reminding the youth of barbaric military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib by the then Congress government, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today said that it was all important to keep our younger generations abreast of saga of countless atrocities on the Sikhs perpetrated by the arrogant Congress leadership at helm of affairs at that point of time.
Addressing the gathering during Sangat Darshan program at Fatehgarh Churian assembly segment, the Chief Minister said that 1984 Sikh genocide after the death of then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi has badly tormented the Sikh psyche and now it was our bounden duty to sensitize the youngsters with the pangs of agony suffered by hapless and innocent Sikh community. Mr. Badal said that he was just refreshing the memories of our youth who were not even born at that time.
"The youth should act prudently to differentiate who is their friend or foe" he added.
On the contrary, the Chief Minister said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has ever waged a relentless battle to secure and safeguard rights of Punjabis in general and Sikhs in particular whenever the Congress exploited the state socially, economically and politically. Throwing all its secular credentials to winds, Mr. Badal said that the Congress never missed any opportunity to meddle in the religious affairs of Sikhs.
Exhorting the people to be prepared for struggle to save the waters of the state, the Chief Minister said Congress and AAP were inimical to the interests of the state and were hell bent upon depriving the state from its water. He said that every Punjabi would have to struggle to save every single drop of water as if AAP and Congress succeed in their nefarious designs then no one could save Punjab from becoming a desert. Mr. Badal reminded the people that while Congress had signed various water agreements to deprive state of its waters, the AAP was now trying its level best to ensure that these agreements were implemented at the earliest.
The Chief Minister said that as Mr. Arvind Kejriwal hailed from Haryana so he was naturally inclined towards safeguarding the interests of his state. He said that Mr. Kejriwal has no affection with Punjab or its people and his sole intention was to wrest political power in the state to benefit his native state Haryana. Apprising the people about the affidavit submitted by AAP government in Delhi on SYL issue, the Chief Minister said that Delhi government has said that the stand of Punjab government on this issue would disintegrate the country.
Listing the major initiatives taken by the state government, the Chief Minister said that due to concerted efforts of alliance government, Punjab was the today only power surplus state in the country. He further said that the alliance government has decided to double the pensions given to people under the social security schemes besides hiking the honorarium of the Nambardars. Mr. Badal said that the state government has started first of its kind scheme to provide interest free crop loans worth Rs 50000 to the farmers. He further said that in another historic decision it has been decided that all the farmers would be provided a health insurance cover of Rs.50,000 and an insurance of Rs.5 lac in case of accidental death or incapacitation of head of family.
Earlier interacting with the media persons, the Chief Minister termed the statewide dharnas by Congress as a ‘political gimmick’. Mr. Badal said that state Congress leadership was hell bent upon wasting its energy by politicizing these issues and the state government was already proactively probing all cases related to recruitments and law & order. He advised Captain to play a constructive role for the development of state and betterment of its people rather blowing these issues out of proportion.
Referring to some objections raised by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the screening of film 'Udta Punjab', the Chief Minister quipped how the state government could be held responsible for it when the CBFC was exclusively under the control of Government of India.
