Medhavi Tomer from CGC Landran part of NCC’s YEP to Sri Lanka
NCC Cadet Medhavi Tomar, CSE student (6th Sem) of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran brought laurels to the institution by being the only cadet from states including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, who was a part of the NCC team that represented India in an NCC Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) at Sri Lanka. It is worth mentioning that Medhavi had also won NCC’s All India Best Cadet Award in the Senior Wing, (Army Category) and was felicitated by the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi during PM’s NCC Rally organised annually at New Delhi. She was presented with a medal and a baton of honour by the premier. YEP is an annual, country to country exchange of cadets belonging to NCC/equivalent organisations of 11 friendly nations conducted by NCC. These include Singapore, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Russia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, among others. The selected cadets participate in NCC activities of the host country helping them become aware of and appreciate each other’s socio economic and cultural realities helping strengthen political and social bonding between their respective nations. The YEP with Sri Lanka had 12 cadets selected from across India. Sharing her experience Medhavi said, “It was such a proud moment to have represented my country at such a platform. It was a great confidence booster and was an excellent exercise in shaping our interpersonal and communication skills.” Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, commended Medhavi and said that the institution was proud of her. Calling her a role model for fellow CGCians, they wished her their very best, for the future.
