BENEFICIARIES TO GET A SUBSIDY OF RS 12,000 PER PLANT: DEPUTY COMMISSIONER
Ludhiana, January 16, 2019: Under the Mission Tandrust Punjab of the state government, the district administration is laying special emphasis towards setting up of biogas plants in a bid to save our environment and provide cheap cooking gas to the residents. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has set a target of setting up 400 biogas plants in the district by March 31, 2019 and the beneficiaries (those coming forward for setting up these plants) would get a subsidy of Rs 12,000 per plant.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that around 180 beneficiaries have already been identified in the district and they are still receiving more applications. They stated that the biogas plant scheme is now completely under PEDA and the Rural Development Department would identify eligible beneficiaries and send them to the office of ADC (D) and the work regarding setting up of plant would be carried out by PEDA.
They informed that methane gas produced by the biogas plant is known as a green gas as it does not cause any kind of pollution when used. They said that biogas is a very suitable alternative to the conventional cooking gas used in our homes. And a very high quality fertiliser is produced from the residue of a biogas plant, which is very beneficial for farming. They said that with the biogas plant scheme not only provides gas to the beneficiaries, but even help them financially because he can save up to one and half cylinder every month and contribute in gas manufacturing for the country.
Dr Shena Aggarwal has appealed to the residents to set up maximum biogas plants in the villages, reduce their expenditure and contribute in keeping our environment clean. Further information regarding this project can be sought from the concerned PEDA official at phone number 94631-40744.
