Ludhiana, May 10, 2016: A massive protest dharna was organised by the PAU Retirees Welfare Association in collaboration with the PAU Pensioners Welfare Association in which more than 200 pensioners took part.
This dharna was against the non-payment of Leave Travelling Allowance from July 2015 and January 2016 under the presidentship of Mr. Jila Ram Bansal. Mr. Bansal told that many letters relating to our demands were written to the authorities during the past 3 years, but no reply. He further told that they time and again tried to have a dialog with the authorities regarding their demands i.e. free medicines for the chronic patients in the PAU hospital, part time eye and teeth specialists, availability of all tests in the PAU hospital, pension bhawan, providing more space to the SBI so that the bank may provide more staff for better services.
Mr. DP Maur Chairman, warned that if the LTA and pension along with other demands are not finalized soon then the agitation may take a serious turn for which the responsibility will be of the PAU authorities. He further demanded 6% DA and arrear of 23 months be released immediately.
Mr. Satish Sood, General Secretary conducted the stage nicely. He told that the Hon'ble High Court had already ordered the PAU to release all the dues to the pensioners without any further loss of time. Now the university is liable to face the contempt. Sood demanded that free cashless mediclaim policy on the pattern of Govt. of Punjab be implemented without any further loss of time.
Mr. Sukhdev Singh President, Jaswant Zirakh Sr. Vice President, S. Assa Singh Pannu Gen. Secy. and Chaman Lal Secy. also addressed. They stressed upon the authority that immediate redressal of the grievances of the pensioners be made and all the demands hanging in fire be met immediately, otherwise both the associations will intensify the agitation in the coming days for which the PAU authorities will be responsible.
Paramjit Singh Gill, Gulzar Pandher, HBS Bhatia, Amritpal, Sohan Lal, Nirmal Singh, Malkit Singh, MS Mann, Ajit Singh Cheema, Vidhu Sharma, Jagga Singh Doabia, Joginder Ram, Labh Singh, Manjit Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Birbal, Iqbal Singh, RS Rangeela, Anoop Singh, Muni Lal, Paramjit Narula, Amarjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Kailash Chander & lady pensioners Sapat Kala, Ushal Malhotra, Sheela devi, Lachhami devi, Sunita Sharma and Meenu devi were present.
