Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar awarded 608 degrees to its scholars of various streams in annual convocation in 131st year of its glorious and iconic existence on November 26. The Chief Guest, Dr.Jaspal Sindh Sandhu, Secretary, University Grants Commission, New Delhi and the eminent members of the College Managing Committee were accorded floral felicitations by the college Principal Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The proceedings of the day, presided over by Sh. Chander Mohanji, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and KMV Managing Committee, took off with great aplomb and ceremonial start. Welcoming the Chief Guest, the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi read out a detailed annual report of the college’s achievements in academic, co-academic, sports, innovative programmes and other multifarious student-support activities organized successfully during the year. She reiterated institutional social responsibility to respond committedly to momentous issues of youth and continue the march towards progression on the path of women empowerment through higher education.
In his presidential address, Sh. Chander Mohanji expressed his deep gratitude towards university grants commission for providing liberal support and resources for multidimentional growth of the Vidyalaya. He lauded the instrumental role of UGC in helping the institution acquire its coveted status of The Heritage Institution during its 131-years long but historic journey. The PG Department of English released the next issue of an international English journal ‘Oracle’ on the occasion.
Congratulating the degree holders, Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu wished them all for their bright future ahead. Dr. Sandhu spared some of the initiatives taken by the governing body of the higher education- UGC which will prove to be a quantum jump in bringing about propriety and transparency in the system. He added that by adopting an unbeaten track, one can always find new pathways towards innovation and bring about a qualitative change in one’s environment.
The General Secretary of KMV Managing Committee, Sh. Alok Sondhi extended a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest for his illuminating preserve. Other worthy members of KMV Managing Committee Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, Dr. Sushma Chopra, Secretary and Dr. Satpal Gupta also graced the occasion.
