Jalandhar, March 16, 2015: Apeejay took a step ahead in the direction of Women Empowerment on the 4th day of its 40th Anniversary Celebrations' Week. The Iconic Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development illumined the triumphant occasion as the Chief Guest. 
Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Education Society, Aditya Berlia, Member, Apeejay Education Society, Principal, Dr. Sucharita, Sunil Jyoti, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar welcomed the well regarded Ms. Maneka Gandhi to the college. In the memory of Apeejay's Founder Chairman, college students Anadi Mishra and others gave a soul sterling performance of 'Qaseedan', a Sufi prayer to the divine usually sung in praise of mentor. A documentary on the exemplary life of Sushma Paul Berlia was screened for the audience which inspired everyone present in the Auditorium to soar high like a falcon leaving behind all the obstacles of life. On completion of its 40 glorious years, a Ballet was performed by college students which depicted how Seth Stya Paul took an endeavour to promote culture and traditional arts of India across the globe. Even after  his departure, Sethji's planted sapling i.e. Apeejay is spreading the fragrance of Indian cultures in events like these where delegates from Codarts University for the Arts, Rotterdam, Willem de Kooning Academy, Netherlands and Chengdu Textile College, China have participated in commendable numbers. 
Sushma Paul Berlia felt delighted on the fruitful completion of its 40 years. She congratulated all the Apeejayites and said Apeejay has earned fame throughout the world in the field of Performing Arts and Design, carrying forward the legacy of Seth Satya Paul, which no other institution of India has ever achieved.  
Maneka Sanjay Gandhi was extremely impressed by the standards of Design, Arts, Sculpture and especially Music being taught in the college. She also appreciated Apeejay's efforts in bringing delegates from China, the country which is known to preserve its age old culture. 
In the end, 40 Apeejayites performed fusion of Bharat Natyam, Hip-Hop, Kathak, Bhangra and Gidha. Students filled with enthusiasm brought Aditya Berlia and Foreign delegates on stage to dance on the beats of Dhol.
Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her gratitude to Gandhi for her luminescent presence. She also thanked Berlia for being a guiding spirit as it was not possible without her support to take Apeejay to such heights. She said both the ladies stand as torch of inspiration to infinite number of females to establish themselves in this male headed Society. 
In the parallel session, a Faculty Development Programme was organised in which learned Resource Persons Dr. Ashwani Aggarwal, Dr. Saroj Rani, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur and Prof. Maarten Regouin gave presentations on the objects and articles of traditional Punjab like Punjabi Jutti, Parandahs, Nadas, Durries etc.. The experienced Resource Persons introduced Foreign Delegates with the basic details and techniques of manufacturing these objects.
