LUDHIANA NEWS: Tewari lauds role of social organisations

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari t a function held at Ludhiana on Monday.

Ludhiana, July 1, 2013: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari has lauded the role of various social organisations in helping in ameliorating the plight of people. He said, the social organisations have usually supplemented the government role and have helped in providing relief to people on different occasions.

Speaking at a function after presenting a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the Maharaja Aggarsen Agarwal Sabha in Sunder Nagar, from the MP’s local area development fund, he said, these organisations need to augment their role in social upliftment and fighting various ills facing the society.

The Minister said, various social organisations had also performed important role in spreading the education and setting up educational institutions which had benefitted the less privileged people of the society. He added, there are several hospitals run by the social organisations which provide medical care to the people free or cost or at a highly subsidised price.

Speaking on the occasion local MLA Surinder Dawer lauded the contribution of Tewari in Ludhiana’s development. He said, it was a matter of pride for all the people of Ludhiana that for the first time since independence. He said, people of Ludhiana will always remain grateful to Tewari for his immense contribution for the development of the constituency including Rs 100 crore grant for PAU, Rs 65 crores for City Bus Service, Rs 50 crores for cleaning of the Buddha Nullah and many other things.

Earlier president of the Aggarwal Sabha KK Gupta and general secretary Sushil Gupta felicitated Tewari.

On this occasion, DCC (U) President Pawan Dewan was also present.
