Ludhiana Architects Visit ARCASIA

Ludhiana, May 30, 2017: A delegation of Architects from Ludhiana led by Ar.Sanjay Goel, Director-Ludhiana Smart City Limited and Chairman of The Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter (IIAPC) attended the best ever event of Asian Architects- ARCASIA held in Jaipur, which was attended by Architects from twenty one Asian countries. It was best ever event of architects in history of India.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development, Government of India and Smt Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister, Rajasthan was Guest of Honour.

Ar.Sanjay Goel got special recognition as Director of Smart city Ludhiana and felicitated foreign architects Dharmali Kusumadi from Indonesia, Ar. Javier Corvalan from Paraguay, Ar.Sharukh Mistry from India and Ar. Tan Szue Hann from Singapore who were speakers in one of the technical session .Team IIA Ludhiana from Punjab was felicitated for contributing a lot to the Architect's community.

In ARCASIA, hundreds of international architects including Ar. Tan Szue Hann, Ar. Sarosh Pradhan, Ar. Salvador Rueda Palanzuela , National architects including Ar. B.V Doshi, Ar. Raj Rewal, Ar. DS Ramakrishna Rao, Ar. Sanjay Mohe, Ar. Ashmit Alag, Ar. Divya Kush, Ar. Punit Sethi, Ar. Shamit Manchanda and eminent speakers including Ar. Dikshu Kukreja, Ar. Rita Soh, Ar. Wang Shuo, Ar. Babika Goel from across the globe were present to share about various aspects of architecture.

The theme of the ARCASIA forum was HAPPINESS THROUGH ARCHITECTURE. ARCASIA Forum is a major regional forum held every two years that take the form of a large international forum for fostering intellectual exchange and strategic discussion on regional challenges, initiatives and development amongst thousands of Architects. The keynote speakers for the event from India were Ar. B.V Doshi who spoke about his architectural contributions which are widely recognised and Ar. Raj Rewal who discussed his various works including the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial being constructed at Kartarpur, Punjab.

It was a well planned event. during which the heritage sites of Jaipur were chosen as the venues for Lunch and Dinner apart from each day had a specific dress code. The opening and closing day had cultural events where every participating country performed their traditional dances. Events like Jaipur architecture tours and Heritage walks were also organised so as to make foreign delegates familiar with the Indian architecture. Artisans workshop on Blue Pottery, Block printing, Lime jali also took place.

ARCASIA was attended by many renowned architects of world. A parallel showcase exhibition of building materials was also there that includes brands like cera, qutone, hitachi, legrand and many more.

Technocrates from our region who attended ARCASIA include Yogesh Singla, Nikhil Jindal, Khushboo Bansal, Pooja Vermani, Simarpreet Kaur, Ravinder Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Varunesh Kumra, Nehdeep Kaur, Sarika Khullar, Abha Bansal, Irwindeep Singh, Nagender Narayan, Pritpal Singh, Rajender Sandhu, LR Gupta, G.S Dhillon, Aman Kapoor, Deepak Badiyal, attended the event. The group moved in a bus instead of going individually so as to enjoy each other's company and share their views on architecture, Smart Cities and a lot more.
