Ludhiana architect moderates technical session at international conference

Ludhiana, November 3, 2014: Ludhiana’s architect, Ar.Sanjay Goel was the Moderator at the Technical Session “Futuristic and Innovative Initiatives” at NICHE-2014, the First International Conference in the field of Architecture that was held in the State of Punjab, nearby Ludhiana from October 31– November 2.

The session had nine experts from all over the world who presented their research papers and shared their views on various pressing issues such as Automation for Energy Efficient Architecture, Urban Planning, Transport Planning, Affordable Housing and Availability of Housing Stock for the ever growing population. Ar.Goel shared his insight on each of these topics and concluded the session with questions from the audience, panel discussion and brain storming.

The conference dealt with various aspects of architecture, planning & design. International speakers & audience from Iran, Algeria, Mauritius, Turkey and other countries also attended the conference. The aim of the conference was to deal with both external (planning & architecture) and internal (interior and design) architectural aspects. 

The conference witnessed participation from big names in Architecture such as Ar. Surinder Bahga, Chairman IIA Publication Board; Ar. Divya Kush, Vice-President IIA; Ar. Krishnarao Jaisim from Bengaluru and Ar. Namita Singh of Satnam Namita Associates.

Presentations were also delivered by Ms. Elif Berna Var from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey who presented a paper on “Social Sustainability in Urban Regeneration Projects” in relation to urban rehabilitation projects in Turkey and by Y. Baguant Moonshiram from University of Mauritius who highlighted that town centers in Mauritius need renaissance as public infrastructure, community and transportation facilities lack in terms of changing demands. Dr. Mustafa Var from Turkey, Dr. Khosro Afzali from Iran and Dr. Hassib Rehailia from Algeria also participated in the conference.

Many leading architects from Ludhiana participated in NICHE – 2014 including Ar. Rajan Tangri, Ar. Yogesh Singla, Ar. Bimaldeep Singh, Ar. Balbir Bagga, Ar. Sumit Sharma, Ar. Gaganbir Singh, Ar. Baljit Bawa, Ar. Amit Sanyal, Ar. Nidhi Raheja, Ar. Khushboo Raheja, Ar. Ankur Bhandari, Ar. Niranjan Kumar, Ar. Arvind Grewal, Ar. Aashima Gupta, etc.

NICHE - 2014 concluded with many new ideas and concepts which if researched further and implemented, will lead to better growth and development of the country.
