Two accused in police net at Ludhiana on Friday. The latter have recovered heroin worth Rs. 2.25 crore from the fomer.
Ludhiana, February 14, 2014: The Anti-Narcotics Cell Ludhiana has recovered a consignment of heroin worth Rs. 2.25 crore from two persons at a naka laid in the area.
According to the Cell’s In-charge Sub-inspector Harbans Singh, the accused have been identified as Gaurav Sharma (22), alias Gopi, and Rishi Sharma (21). Both the accused are the residents of Basant City- a locality in the city.
The accused were on their way on a motorcycle when apprehended. Police have recovered 450 grams of heroin- the value of which is stated to be worth Rs. 2.25 crore in the international market. The uncles of both the accused are lodged in Tihar Jail for peddling narcotics, said the police.
Police also said the accused had brought the consignment from a person in Delhi (Chandni Chowk). They had procured the consignment at a cheaper price, which they had to dispose off here in “retail” to their customers at a higher price.
Interestingly, while Gaurav Sharma worked as a salesman for a pharmaceutical company and Rishi Sharma as a salesman at a grocery store in the city.
Police Division No.4 have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act against both the accused.
