World Pharmacists Day-2015 celebrations at LPU.

Jalandhar, September 25, 2015: Following the vision of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) & World Health Organization (WHO), the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Lovely Professional University organized World Pharmacists Day-2015 at its campus. The global theme celebrated this year is “Pharmacists: Your Partners in Health”.  Near 600 LPU pharmacy students and staff-members gathered on a common platform and organized the event by scheduling many interesting programs. FIP encourages pharmacists worldwide to participate in such celebrations every year on 25th September, the day it (FIP) was founded. UK students on exchange program at LPU from faculty of Health & Wellbeing at University of Wolver-Hampton also participated in different celebrative parts of the day.
LPU Director General Er HR Singla and Senior Dean Dr Monica Gulati congratulated the participating students & staff members for devising out day-long marvelous program as per the instructions of FIP present President Dr Carmen Peña. Dr Pena wants more than three million experts in medicines globe over to celebrate and promote pharmacists’ profession. Dr Gulati informed that the purpose of World Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of pharmacists in improving health in every corner of the world.
During oath taking ceremony, the emerging LPU pharmacists promised that they would ever act as an integral part of health care system. Students also vowed to discover and manufacture quality drugs to lessen the suffering of humanity. During an illustrative ceremony, senior students welcomed new students by making them wear white-coats, which are symbol of nobility in the pharmacy profession. On this eve, competitions of art & craft for decorative items from waste material, short play, rangoli-designs, slogan writing, poster-making and display of the departmental achievements were attractive programs of the celebration. The topics for essay writing and poster making remained ‘Pharmacist-A boon to the Society’, and ‘Your Health Care Partner’.
