20 Cadets of MAFPI all set to join NDA and INA

Chandigarh, June 8, 2015: Twenty cadets of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute have been selected to join the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy for the courses commencing in the first week of July. Two cadets from this institute have already joined these academies in January this year bringing this year’s tally to twenty two which was the number last year as well. With this sterling performance the institute continues to retain its premier position as a feeder institute for the National Defence Academy.
While disclosing this here  today  a spokesman of the MAFPI said that Cadet Armaanjit Singh Dhaliwal had attained the 14th position in the All India Merit list while Cadet Piyush D Jain was at 21st position. According to information over 4 lakh youth from all over the country appeared in the UPSC entrance exams for NDA conducted in September last year. The spokesman said that selected candidates were called for interviews at various Services Selection Boards from January to April this year. Thereafter, the final merit list had about 450 candidates announced on June 3, 2015. The candidates will now be invited to join the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala in the last week of this month.
It may be recalled that Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI was established by the Punjab Government for reversing the declining trend of Punjabi youth joining the armed forces as officers. The first batch of cadets completed its training in 2013. Since then the institute has been successful in sending as many as 51 cadets from its first three batches to join the armed forces. Cadets of the fourth batch are currently preparing for the NDA entrance exam to be held in Sep this year.
The institute offers a two year training course at the Plus 1 and Plus 2 level. Excellent infra structure for training including all possible sports facilities on the lines of NDA has been created.  All training at AFPI was provide free of cost besides bearing all training and administrative expenses.
