Left Parties Demand Fulfillment Of Demands Of Farmers

Ludhiana, October 12, 2015: The left parties including CPI, CPI (M) and CPM Punjab and CPI(ML) Liberation held a dharna jointly  in front of mini secretariat in support of the demands of agitating farmers. Various leaders speaking on this occasion expressed anguish at the attitude of the government towards the demands of the farmers who have been now agitating for several weeks. Speaking on the occasion Com Jagmati Sangwan- General Secretary All India Democratic Women’s Association and Com Sumit Chopra- Secretary All India Khet Mazdoor Union demanded that the farmers should be given adequate compensation of Rs. 40,000 per acre to farmers and Rs. 20,000 per acre to farm labourers.  They also said that the Basmati Rice be given Rs.4500 per quintal. They also said that the Sugar cane  arrears should also be given immediately. The speakers also said that Dr Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations should be implemented immediately.Com Kartar Singh Bowani- Secretary CPI Ludhiana district, Com Mahinder Singh Acharwal- Distt. Secretary CPM Punjab Ludhiana, Com Amarjet Mattu- district secretary CPI(M) criticized that instead of resolving the issue of the formers, the Akali BJP Punjab government is shamelessly defending the main culprits who are high ups in the government,   involved in 33 crore  insecticides scandal.  The speakers further said that the Modi government in the centre is basically anti farmer which has been reflected in its attempts to acquire the land of the farmers through ordinances.
