Son and daughter-in-law had given contract (Supari) to kill the father
Ferozepur, May 5, 2015: The Ferozepur police have claimed to crack a blind murder case which took place in Guruharsahai on 24th April. Giving details about the incident, Hardyal Singh Mann, SSP, Ferozepur said that a complaint was lodged by Piar Kaur at Guruharsahai police station following the murder of his husband Amrik Singh son of Kartar Singh.
“In her statement, Piar kaur had mentioned that three unidentified persons had severally injured her husband with sharp edged weapons on the intervening night. She could not identify the murderers since they were not known to her”, said SSP.
On the basis of existing evidences and on the basis of doubt, the police arrested Mehar Singh and Lakhwinder Kaur, residents of village Shahan and son and daughter-in-law of Amrik Singh. “During the investigation, the duo accepted that they had given contract (supari) to kill Amrik Singh to one Harnek Singh, a resident of village Dilaram, Lakho ke behram. The police also arrested Harnek Singh and his two accomplices Gurpreet Singh aka Gopy, resident of village Chapati and Sukhmander Singh, resident of village Kari Kalan.”
The SSP said that Mehar Singh had agreed to pay Rs. 6 lakh to Harnek Singh and his partners. “He had paid Rs.20,000 in advance and the rest of the amount was to be paid after the murder”, said SSP.
During the investigation, the reason behind the murder was also unfolded. “Amrik Singh had two sons, Mehar Singh and Boota Singh. After the death of Boota Singh, his son Gurlal Singh started living with his grandfather. Amrik Singh had 21 acre fertile land and he had bequeathed 7 acre land each in the name of Mehar Singh and Gurlal Singh while Mehar Singh wanted to acquire the whole land. So he took this heinous step”, said SSP.
During the interrogation, it was also revealed that the contract killer Harnek Singh was already booked under several cases of Arms Act, unlawful activities prevention act and attempt to murder and it is told that he was an active member of communist party.
The police officials have also confiscated the weapons which were used by the killers besides a motor cycle, a car.
