Lebanese rockets hit Israel for fourth time

Jerusalem, July 14 (IANS) Rockets fired from Lebanon Monday hit northern Israel for the fourth time since July 11, the Israeli army said.

"Several rockets were fired from Lebanon at the north western Galilee corner, one hitting an open area," Xinhua quoted a statement by the Israeli army as saying.

The Israeli army launched artillery fire in response, the statement said.

No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for Monday's attack or the previous two attacks July 11 and 12.

Israeli military officials have said that the rockets were probably fired by a small pro-Palestinian organisation in Lebanon, not Hezbollah.

A mortar shell fired from Syria landed on the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights Sunday night.

The latest incident occurred as Israel's deadly offensive on Gaza entered its seventh day and the toll in Gaza escalated to 172.

Early Monday, an unmanned aircraft entered Israel from Gaza and was intercepted, causing no injuries or damage.

US-made Patriot missile battery intercepted the drone and destroyed it in mid flight.
