Kumon Gurdevnagar Centre, Ludhiana celebrated and awarded 24 top students in its Advanced Students Honour Roll (ASHR) ceremony
Ludhiana, April 17, 2016: Kumon, the largest after-school programme in the world has been helping millions of children excel in Maths and English globally, for more than 60 years now. Since the last 10 years, its unique methodology has also benefited thousands of Indian & Sri Lankan students across 14 cities as well. Carrying forward this legacy, Kumon’s recently opened Gurdevnagar Centre received overwhelming response from parents across Ludhiana, looking for quality education for their children. The centre organized its first Advanced Students Honour Roll (ASHR) ceremony on 16th April, 2016, at Galaxzy, to honour its top performing students in a gala ceremony.

Kumon believes in “self-learning” through which children gradually progress beyond their school grade levels. While doing so, they challenge their abilities, moving up levels and hence gradually sharpen their analytical and comprehension skills, to become top performers. Kumon centres across the world organize the ASHR ceremony annually to honour such achievers. To be an ASHR student, children have to prove their mettle by studying beyond their school grade.

This year, Kumon Gurdevnagar Centre honoured 24 ASHR students. Out of them 1 was awarded the Gold trophy, 1 received the Silver medal, while 22 other bright students were awarded Bronze medals.

Said, Ms. Suvra Nanda, Class Instructor, Kumon Gurudev Nagar Centre, “The Kumon learning module helps students become more tactful & self-indulging while solving problems that are challenging and demand analytical skills. In Kumon it’s not uncommon to witness miracles, where students in Class 1 could be solving problems of division or fraction corresponding to Class 4 math or students in Class 5 enjoying solving calculus (Class 12 maths) themselves. I feel privileged to be a part of the Kumon family and look forward to more parents and children across Ludhiana and other parts of Punjab benefit from the Kumon way of learning.”

The Kumon Method of Learning is very unique in its methodology of “No Teacher, No Textbook, and No Blackboard”. Students learn through solving worksheets on their own, both in the Kumon centre and at home. Trained Instructors and Centre staff assist and guide children through the worksheets when they face difficulties by giving them timely instructions and hints.
