Jalandhar, October 7, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar is actively engaged in bringing about transformational changes and to contribute to the rural development process. KMV is making its contribution to the rural development process under 2nd edition of Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan, a program launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development with an aim to connect institution of higher education with the local communities to address and solve the issues related to the development. NSS volunteers along with NSS co-ordinators Mrs Ashima Sahni, Dr. Sonik Bhatia & Mrs Anand Prabha conducted the survey in the villages adopted by KMV under this scheme. Survey was conducted at Mubarkpur Sheikha, Raipur & Rasoolpur, Hazara and Randhawa Masanda villages respectively. In order to understand the problems of the villages, meetings were held with all the members of Gram Panchayat and Sarpanches. Thereafter, door to door survey was also conducted to collect the first hand information about life and the problems of the village population. Members of Gram Panchayat very heartily thanked and appreciated the zeal & enthusiasm of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi for encouraging, motivating and involving students to work for the development of villages in tune with notion of 'Gram Swaraj' as propounded by the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. One of the NSS officer Dr Iqbal Singh also attended a special training program held at Chandigarh in this context. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV have always been a frontrunner in contributing to the nation building and that these types on initiatives encourage the students to understand the life and problems of the rural population.
