KMV is the 1st college to introduce Value-Added Foundation Programme
Jalandhar, November 20, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous and Heritage institution, Jalandhar organized Foundation Programme, an innovative initiative designed to strengthen the intellectual foundation of the all the new entrants of the college. This programme, one of its kind in any college of the country, aims at bridging the gap between the school and higher education. it seeks to promote, in the students, awareness of the human intellectual history so that they can carry forward the rich legacy of humanity as responsible and humane citizens of the world. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi whose brain child this Foundation programme is, also acts as the pilot faculty and conduct two sessions herself. The programme traced the human story beginning from the dawn of humanity and passing through the ancient and middle ages right up to the modern times. A team of 9 professors of the college led by Prof .Atima Sharma Dwivedi herself deal with various aspects of human history and make PowerPoint presentations for the students. All the sessions were highly interactive with students participating enthusiastically in discussions. They found this programme greatly beneficial as it increased their knowledge and awareness manifold. students were also rewarded for their participation in interaction during various sessions. it is worth mentioning here that this foundation programme which was initiated in 2009 has been included in value based this year under autonomous status. A test will be conducted on the basis of discourses delivered during the programme. All the participants will have to appear in the test and the grades of the programme are added to the mark sheet. A book has been printed by the college for the course study of the foundation programme. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated Dr Vinod Kalra and Dr Gurjot, Co-ordinates of the programme and also lauded the efforts of all the resource persons among whom are Ms Seema Jain , Dr Madhumeet, Ms Shalini, Ms Amarpreet Khurana, Dr Monika and Ms Ashima. She said that since KMV aims to produce empowered girls with well developed personalities, this programme plays a crucial role in that direction.
