Jalandhar, January 3, 2013  :  Sunil Jyoti, Mayor of Jalandhar said the renovation work of Nehru Garden which is pending over two years will be taken up on priority basis and likely be completed after the monsoon season this year.

Mayor was interacting with the media-persons on  Tuesday. He said the landscaping work would be done during the rainy season, so that it can be dedicated to the general public.

Talking about the Corporation’s priorities in 2013, he told that the Corporation is to make Jalandhar clean and green.

He said the Corporation has decided to involve Corporate Sector to adopt roundabouts for the purpose of maintenance.

He said three foot over bridges(FOBs) would be constructed one each near DAV College ,Khalsa College and APJ College for pedestrians.

Jyoti said the income of the MCJ has risen from Rs 126 crore from April, 2012 to December, 2012 as compared to corresponding period last year.

Mayor further said the Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral is going to provide a sweeping machine to the MCJ from his MPLAD Fund. The sweeping machine will have the sucking and cleaning capacity of 5 km road per hour.

He was accompanied by MC Commissioner Vinay Bublani and Senior Deputy Mayor Arvinder Kaur Oberoi.
