Hira Singh Gabria, former minister and Chairman, District Planning Board, on Tuesday launching a short term diploma course in Hotel Management at the ITI (Boys), Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 3, 2015: Reiterating its commitment for producing skilled manpower for the local industry, the state government has started a short term diploma course in Hotel Management at the ITI (Boys), Ludhiana. The manpower trained through this course would be absorbed in the booming Hotel industry of Punjab.

 This short term course has been approved by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and would be of 45 days duration.

 This course was formally launched by Hira Singh Gabria, former minister and Chairman, District Planning Board, by distributing free education kits to the students.

While speaking on the occasion, Hira Singh Gabria informed that this particular course would be conducted by the Institute of Hotel Management, Bathinda. He said that this course would be of 45 days duration and the classes of first batch of 35 students have started from today onwards. He informed that the first batch comprises of pass outs from class eighth to 12th. Gabria said that along with free education, the students will also get education material and uniform free of cost. Besides this, the pass outs would also be paid a financial assistance of Rs 1,500.

ITI (Boys) Principal Baljinder Singh informed that the staff from Institute of Hotel Management, Bathinda would stay at Ludhiana for this course. He said that this course would help the students in getting job in the local Hotel industry.

Hira Singh Gabria informed that there is shortage of around 2 to 2.5 lakh skilled manpower in hotel industry of the state. He said that this course is part of Punjab government's plan for empowering our today's youth.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Principal Navdeep Sharma, Nirmal Singh SS, vice president, BC Welfare Board, senior Akali leader Jagdev Singh Gohalwaria, besides several others.
