Investigation into Jangpur village incident going on: District Election Officer

Ludhiana, October 21, 2019: During the polling for Dakha Vidhan Sabha by-election today, 71.64 % votes were polled. 
While providing further information, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal stated that out of total 71.64% polling of votes, 72.48% male and 70.69% female voters exercised their right to vote, whereas there was no polling of votes by the third gender.
He also clarified that the district administration has come to know about a firing incident at village Jangpur and investigations into this incident are in process. He informed that this incident took place after the completion of polling process and away from the polling station. Besides, no case of violence has been reported from any other village or area of Dakha Vidhan Sabha constituency.
While thanking the voters, election staff and officials, Mr Agrawal informed that the counting of votes would take place at Guru Hargobind College, Gurusar Sudhar (district Ludhiana) on October 24, 2019.
