Ludhiana, January 21, 2019: The district-level Republic Day function would be celebrated at Guru Nanak Stadium, here, on January 26, in which Punjab School Education, Food Processing & Freedom Fighters Minister Mr OP Soni would be the chief guest and would hoist the national flag.

During these Republic Day celebrations, more than 2000 students from different schools, mainly government schools, would participate in the cultural items. A review meeting in this regard was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal at Guru Nanak Stadium, here today.

Mr Agrawal informed that the district administration is ensuring maximum participation of students from government schools during Republic Day and Independence Day functions. He informed that students from 57 schools, including students from 29 government schools alone, would take part in the cultural function on the occasion. Besides, other participating students would be from 18 aided schools and 10 private schools of the district.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner urged all the government departments to celebrate this Republic Day with full enthusiasm and national integration. Families of freedom fighters would also be honoured on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the function would start at 9:58 am with the hoisting of national flag by the Chief Guest. The rehearsals for this function would be organised at Guru Nanak Stadium on January 22 and 23, 2019, while the full dress rehearsal would be held on January 24, 2019.

While issuing necessary directions to the officials, the Deputy Commissioner said that both Republic Day and Independence Day are our national festivals and all residents should celebrate them with fervour, communal harmony and national integration. He directed the officials to perform their duties with utmost devotion. Municipal Corporation Ludhiana officials were directed to ensure cleanliness of the entire city. Mr Agrawal appealed to all residents of district Ludhiana to attend this function along with their families.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal, IAS (Under Training) Mr Sagar Setia, Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi, SDMs Mr Amarjit Singh Bains and Mr Damanjit Singh Mann, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority Mrs Lovejeet Kaur Kalsi, AETC-2 Mr Navraj Singh Brar, Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Miss Kanu Garg, ACP Mr Ankur Gupta, MC Zonal Commissioner Mr Jasdev Singh Sekhon, besides several others.
