International Cuisine Fest at PCTE Inst of Hotel Management

Ludhiana, March 6, 2015: PCTE Group of Institutes organised International Food Fest at campus. In the competition 18 International teams from France, Syria, Guinea Bissau, Lesotho, Mozambique, Bhutan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Uganda, Rwanda, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania participated in the International cultural cuisine fest. They explored with exotic delicacies like Casava, Afghani Kabuli Pulaow, Abergin with peanut sauce,  Apple Cramble, Spinach Quiche, Saute Vegetables with Herb Sauce, etc.

46 International students participated in the Cultural Cuisines Festival. Chef Ajay Sood, Joint secretary Indian Culinary Forum and Navdeep Sharma, President- Indian Culinary Forum-Punjab & Chandigarh Chapter visited the fest to taste and encourage the students from all over the world. Chef Sood said that “In my career of 20 years in Food Industry, I have not seen such rare dishes cooked and displayed on one platform”.

Professors of Institutes of Hotel Management, PCTE Group of Institutes helped the students with their cooking and baking. The entire event was held in the Advance Kitchen of the Hotel Management College. The mega event was organised to showcase the diverse cuisines of world and it turned successful as huge participation was found among the International students.  “Cooking is my hobby and I am excited to represent my home cuisine in India.” said Sandrine Dautreme, student, University of Angers as they cooked various dishes of French cuisine.  

Students from University of Angers, France, who are part of exchange program at PCTE, also participated in the event. On the occasion Prof. Anirban Gupta, Director-IHM said “We want to spread awareness about global cuisines as we have representation of 30 countries on campus”. Gupta praised all the participants and was very happy with the efforts put in. He further said that the international students studying in different courses cooked with expertise and can give hospitality students a run for their job in cooking industry.

Dr K.N.S.Kang, Director General, PCTE group of Institutes congratulated the team of IHM and said that Hotel management course is the most practical course. He further said that such events will definitely help the students in exploring the culinary art across the globe. Dr. Kang stressed that PCTE provides global exposure with more than 230 International students from 30 countries around the globe studying on campus. He further explained that the cuisine fest was a cultural exchange during which students of 18 countries learnt about each other’s cuisine.
