IKG-PTU participates in Digital India Week

Jalandhar, July 7, 2015: Supporting the initiative of Government, I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University participated in ‘Digital India Week’ at its main campus here today.  
Various banners were displayed in the campus to aware the students and visitors regarding the significance of this digital week. On the concluding day today, a seminar was organized in which all the Deans, Directors, Registrar, other officers and staff participated. The importance and objectives of Digital India Services along with the use of applications of numerous e-services like e-hospitals, elockers, ebasta etc were highlighted.
Later, the heads of various departments shared their digital initiatives taken. Er. Sunil Kumar, Deputy Registrar, computer section informed, “University is the first university in state where the e-office has been implemented successfully for paperless working. Other initiatives include- Conducting of Centralized online counseling for making admission of students in various technical, architectural, management, pharmacy and other applied courses; Providing online submission of examination forms, results and certificates to the its students; Implementation of Biometric attendance in the university; Web portal Phdonline.com has been developed for Ph.D admissions, it provides online facility to access status, submission of reports, synopsis, abstract and fee deposition etc.”
To improve the quality of Ph.D thesis, turnitin software provided to supervisors for online checking of plagiarism by department of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (RIC). Deputy Librarian Madhu Middha shared the digital initiatives done in the library like e-journals, e-books etc.
Registrar Dr. Amanpreet Singh while delivering vote of thanks said, “This initiative is considered to be a step forward to make India a developed nation. Our university has committed to strengthen digital India initiative of the Government of India by providing numerous e-services. We will surely put more efforts so that our employees could strengthen themselves digitally and could compete the digitally advance world effectively.”
The seminar was attended by Dr. Buta S Sidhu, Dean Academics; Dr. A. P. Singh- Dean RIC; Controller of Examination Er. Paramjit Singh; XEN Er. H. P. Singh and other officials of the university.
