Innovative Community Outreach Programme initiated by HDHI

Ludhiana, July 1, 2014: On the eve of Doctor's day falling on July 1 every year, Hero DMC Heart Institute has taken a major leap in creating health awareness among general public. HDHI has launched a unique facility of sending health alert tips through sms. The health alert tips will be pertaining to diseases like cardiac problems, diabetics, hypertension etc & ways to prevent these diseases by modifying the lifestyle. More than 11,000 people have been registered till now to avail SMS Alert service in less than 2 weeks.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta launched this scheme, which was on the agenda of Managing Society for quite a long time. Though DMCH and HDHI have been regularly conducting free health check up camps for the general public but the management has always been keen in creating health awareness through innovative ideas through modern means of mass communication, said Prem Kumar Gupta.

Dr Bishav Mohan, who Innovated this idea - said that SMS is the cost-effective & smart way of communication now a days to prefer & most popular among youngsters. He Said such preventive initiative for public health interest was taken by American Heart Association long time back and in the span of last four decades, they have been successful in reducing the risk of incidents of heart attacks and allied diseases.

This project has active participation of all faculty members from DMCH & HDHI including Chief Cardiologist Dr.G.S Wander, Vice Principal Dr. Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr.Rajoo Singh and Dr.Naved Aslam.
