Mr Bhavdeep Singh, CEO, Fortis Healthcare: “As the year draws to a close, we must remember that we are in the business of healing and led by some extraordinary specialists, we are making a difference in the healthcare of our country. As the disease burden of India is a big factor, seasonal ailments such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya and swine flu along with non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and cardiac ailments continue to be a challenge. We must also focus on preventive and promotive health programmes and not just curative healthcare.

Tech-enabled healthcare along with innovation has come in as a boon. However, innovation is relevant only if it is directed and used effectively to bring about newer and efficient ways of accomplishing a task or solving problems. Also, innovation is not just about technology since it can also be driven by new processes and ways of thinking. It has become important for all industry stakeholders to assess the quality and effectiveness of medical interventions by measuring and publishing the medical outcomes. At Fortis, we are the first in Asia to have adopted the world leading indicators set by International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM).

India will continue to enjoy a competitive advantage for medical tourists in surgery and treatment costs in 2017. With lakhs of people in India wanting organ transplants, we need to spread greater awareness and increase centers specializing in this area.

Exceptional clinical care, patient centric delivery, affordability and access to healthcare remain our touchstones and it is with this spirit and approach that Fortis Healthcare is stepping into the New Year. Clinical excellence is and will be our mantra and we will continue to strive for excellence.”
