During the search operation, 12 packets of heroin weighing 1 Kg each having value of Rs.60 crore in the international market were recovered from Burji village in Mamdot area.  The consignment has been passed on to the Indian side through the pipe over the fencing and a case has been registered under No.124 under sections 21, 25, 29, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act at Mamdot police station, SSP added.

SSP further stated, during investigation it has come on surface that the keyman in taking delivery of the consignment is Suchha Singh against whom number of cases have been registered on account of recovery heroin and foreign made arms.  Suchha Singh had also disclosed that in the past, he had been Pakistan number of times and this consignment of heroin was to be received on Tuesday night from Pakistan which was to be passed on to smugglers. However, it has come to notice that for delivery of these packets, they are paid Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000 per packet.

The police are further investigating as to whom this heroin consignment was to be passed on as the arrested persons were working only as couriers.

In reply to the question, SSP stated, during the festival season, the delivery of heroin are expected.  There are two types of consumption, one is locally available and consumed locally whereas the consignments received at the international border through the smugglers are passed on to metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc.

More clues are expected during the investigation which would help to reach the smugglers. BSF authorities have also been informed and would also be associated in future enquiry.
