Healing Touch For The Earthquake Victims Of Nepal

The special team sent by the Punjab government to supervise the relief operation launched for these hapless victims has expedited the distribution of relief material besides setting up round the clock “Langar” (Community Kitchen) service in worst affected areas of Kathmandu and adjoining villages in Nepal.

Chandigarh, May 3, 2015: In a healing touch to the victims of earth quake tragedy in Nepal, the special team sent by the Punjab government to supervise the relief operation launched for these hapless victims has expedited the distribution of relief material besides setting up round the clock “Langar” (Community Kitchen) service in worst affected areas of Kathmandu and adjoining villages.
According to the information received from Nepal, the special team comprising Dilraj Singh IAS, Naunihal Singh, IPS, former Secretary SGPC Dalmegh Singh and Baba Mohan Singh Pehowa Wale has taken control of this important task of serving the suffering humanity and roped in local Sikh populace and other volunteers for this noble cause. A community kitchen has been set up at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Satsang , Kupandol, Lalitpur, where on an average 5000 earthquake victims were partaking langar, daily, since April 30. Besides this, victims were being provided medicines, blankets, tarpaulins and milk for kids. The team has also distributed ration in Hari Sidh besides serving langar to 3000 people.
It may be mentioned here that, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had flagged off the first consignment of relief material for the earthquake victims of Nepal from the Chandigarh airport on April 30. The relief material contained 65 quintal of rice, 20 quintal pulses, 40 quintal refined oil, 15 quintal onion, two quintal ginger, six quintal salt, 75 kg each of turmeric, garam masala and chilli powder, three quintal of jeera, 15 quintal of sugar, 1.5 quintal of tea and 50 quintal of milk powder. Likewise, the plane also carried 1000 blankets, 5000 shawls, 200 plastic covers and 500 kg of milk for children for the earthquake affected Nepal. The state government would further dispatch consignments of relief material, as and when required by Nepal.
