Chandigarh, March 5, 2015: J90, a mixed-use project of Mona Townships Pvt Ltd (MTPL) in Mohali that goes by the tagline of “Live, Work, Grow”, joined hands with 92.7 BIG FM in an effort to eradicate the evil of drug abuse from the society during the third week of the “J90 presents 92.7 BIG FM- I am the change” campaign through expert counselling, motivational talks, and inspiring success stories.

The aim of the “J90 presents 92.7 BIG FM- I am the change” campaign is to bring about a positive change in the society by reinventing social growth, thereby helping people lead a positive and healthy life, work with zeal, grow and succeed. J90 and 92.7 BIG FM have been highlighting various social causes through this campaign.

The third week of the “J90 presents 92.7 BIG FM- I am the change” campaign against drug abuse engaged Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous members to make people aware about the ill-effects of drug abuse and offer guidance to help addicts kick the habit. The 92.7 BIG FM helpline numbers were flooded with calls as the radio channel relayed one message after another to reach out to addicts who want to leave drugs for good.

The J90-92.7 BIG FM campaign elicited a roaring response from motivated listeners, who contacted the helpline to appreciate the initiative and, in some cases, share their horrific experiences associated with drug abuse.  Among those invited to the studio to share their accounts were two addicts who were trying to quit drugs and some who had already succeeded in doing so. Some renowned doctors of the tricity were also roped in for the “J90 presents 92.7 BIG FM- I am the change” campaign to tell listeners how drugs can ruin their lives and how to stay away from them.

J90 presents 92.7 BIG FM- I am the change campaign also placed special OB Van at drug rehabilitation centre in and around tricity along with activation programs were also conducted in colleges and universities to aware youngsters that instead of consuming drugs they should think of keeping their body healthy and bring change to the society. Later in the week special lunch and a movie was organised with people who had successfully quit drugs.

Speaking about this initiative,  Tejinder Pal Setia, Chairman, MTPL, said, “Youngsters of Punjab were once known for their energetic spirit and vigour. The zeal, determination and hard-working nature of the people of Punjab has been acknowledged the world over. But today, drug abuse is threatening to take all this away from us. Through the ‘I am the change’ campaign, MTPL and 92.7 BIG FM have taken it upon themselves to root out this social evil.”
