Harkesh Mittal welcomes `rath yatra’ taken out against FDI
Ludhiana, December 16, 2018: Federation of Retailers Association of India is taking out a rath yatra against FDI across the country. The rath yatra is being led by Amar Singh Kariya and Varinder Singh Walia. On its arrival in Ludhiana, a rousing reception was accorded by Ludhiana Consumer Product Distributor Association members under the leadership of its president Harkesh Mittal and general secretary RS Tarjan. Bapu Ji Food Product managing director (MD) Neeru Mittal was among those present. Speaking on the occasion, Harkesh Mittal said it was need of the hour to get united by the traders for opposing the implementation of FDI. He added the traders’ community had a strong feel that FDI would ruin the retail sector across the country. He said the rath yatra was moving across the country to create a mass movement against move of the government to bring FDI, adding that the rath yatra would conclude its journey in Delhi. In their address, both Kariya and Walia stated that MNCs were in a move to give a set back to the retail sector of the country and this was why they were creating awareness among the traders. They believed that the government was following the policies of Britishers. They strongly felt that it was necessary to oppose the policies of the government because these policies were taking Nation towards economic slavery. They made an appeal to traders not to promote online business. Further, they stressed upon the government to introduce single window tax under goods and services tax (GST). Among others, Mukesh Bhatia, Manoj Tayal, Ashok Dhir, Rohit Gupta, Sachin Pal, Sukhdev Kapoor, Ankur Chopra, Mukesh Mittal, Ashish Juneja, Amit Sharma and Jatinder Madan were present.
