HOLDS INTERACTION ABOUT SEVERAL ISSUES INCLUDING STATUS OF PROPOSED CLUSTERS CALLS UPON INDUSTRIALISTS TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF GOVT SCHEMES Ludhiana, January 3, 2019: Mr DPS Kharbanda, Director, Industries & Commerce, Punjab today held different meetings with local industrialists about various issues including the status of proposed clusters of Punjab government, problems related to export etc. While chairing the meeting, Mr Kharbanda said that the Punjab government has issued clear cut instructions that the officers should themselves visit the industrialists for the redressal of their problems/complaints. He said that sincere efforts are being made to ensure that maximum clusters of different industries are formed in the state so that the industry can get maximum financial assistance/subsidy from the state as well as the union government. He informed that the process of forming 12 different clusters for different industries of Ludhiana district has already started. He said that a meeting regarding the auto parts cluster would be held at Chandigarh on January 4. He said that efforts are also being made to ensure that problems related to already approved two clusters (oil expeller clusters) are checked. He said that the issue related to the Garment Cluster has already been sent to the Union government, whereas the industrialists have been asked to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPR’s) regarding other clusters and submit it to the government. Mr Kharbanda said that the Punjab government is committed for solving all issues/problems related to the exporters on priority basis. He said that he would discuss the issues/problems of the exporters with his senior officers so that they are resolved at the earliest. He also appealed to the industrialists to ensure updation of some of the agreements/MoU’s signed from their end, which is pending in some cases, so that the government can proceed further in this regard. On this occasion, some industrialists also submitted memorandum to Mr DPS Kharbanda. Today’s meetings were also attended by Mr SM Goyal, Industry Advisor, Mr Padmanand, Advisor Grant Thornton, GM District Industries Centre Mr Mahesh Khanna, besides several others.
