Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar's Youth Club undertakes an initiative titled 'Handful of Grains' in which they have collected pulses, cereals, sugar and other eatables to be distributed amongst the slum dwellers in the city.

Jalandhar, September 23, 2015: Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar is not just a college committed to excellence in academics and cultural activities but is equally committed to the cause of instilling humanitarian values amongst the students.  The Youth Club of the College has undertaken an initiative titled 'Handful of Grains' in which they have collected pulses, cereals, sugar and other eatables to be distributed amongst the slum dwellers in the city.  Before embarking on the project, the members of Youth Club undertook a survey in which they explored the slum areas near DPS School, PPR Mall, Damoria Pul, Mother Teresa Home, Nari Niketan, Old Age Home etc. in order to understand the requirements of the poor who lived in deplorable conditions there.  The student members then motivated the students and faculty through posters, appeals and nookad nataks to come forward and donate generously for the cause. Today, the students distributed 15 kg bags containing cereals per family amongst more than 100 needed families.   Apart from this, 100 kg wheat flour, 50 kg sugar and 30 kg pulses were donated to Mother Teresa Home.  The students who worked actively were Simran President of Youth Club; Malika, Secretary; Jasleen, Director; and members Amol, Aditya, Rashi, Kunwar, Jainav, Vasudha, Tanbir.  Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College praised the efforts of the entire team headed by Dr. Apra, Dean, Youth Club of the College for the stupendous efforts in mobilizing the students to contribute generously for the noble cause.  She said that it is more important for the students to be socially evolved citizens who can make a meaningful difference to the society.
