GRAND ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW and garden competition held at Jalandhar Cantt

Jalandhar, March 17, 2013: A grand annual flower show and garden competition was organised at Jalandhar Cantt on Sunday.

The event was conducted by the Cantonment Board, Jalandhar and Station Headquarters under the aegis of Headquarters Vajra Corps.

Lt Gen AK Bakshi, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps inaugurated the flower show and graced the occasion.

Senior Army and Civil Officers and large number of people witnessed this grand show.

This event is being held in Jawahar Garden for over 71 years.

The annual flower show has inspired the residents of Cantonment and Jalandhar City to take greater interest in flowers and environment.

This year about 200 varieties of flowers came for display in the competition. Various flowers like Foliage plant, Potted flower, Cut flower, were displayed during this flower show.

Garden show was divided into two groups. First group was open for all, whereas the second group was open for serving soldiers. Gardens from various educational institutions of Jalandhar, individual and public garden, terrace and regimental gardens participated in this competition.

On the spot painting and Rangoli competition for the children was also organised on the occasion. The children displayed tremendous enthusiasm, talent and innovativeness during the competition.

In addition to individual prizes, rolling trophies were also awarded for the best maintained institutional garden, best maintained round about, best maintained private garden and best maintained arboricultural project. The competition also tested the skills of ladies and participants for on the spot flower arrangement and cut flower competition.
