Ludhiana, September 28, 2013: Police have recovered stolen 21 luxury vehicles after arresting the accused.
According to police, the Sarabha Nagar police brought on production warrant the accused namely Surjit Singh (New Delhi), Jagdev Singh alias Nishan Singh (Mansa), Sandeep Singh alias Neeta (Mansa), Ranjit Singh Mansa and Gurpreet Singh alias Bhalwan of Sunet village, near here, from Bathinda jail in connection with an FIR (No.120) dated August 13 this year.
On questioning strictly, the police arrested two accomplices namely Amanpreet Singh (Karnail Nagar, Ludhiana) and Gurdeep Singh Paheed of the accused and a scrap dealer namely Mandeep Singh alias Sonu , Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana and managed to recover stolen 21 luxury vehicles from them. Engine and engine parts of the vehicles have been recovered from Mandeep Singh, the police said.
The modus operandi of the accused was that they used to buy total damaged vehicles from insurance companies. Later on, they used to stole vehicle of same mark and after destroying its original engine number and chessis numbers they used to install engine and chassis of total damaged vehicle.
The accused used to stole vehicles outside shopping malls, cinema houses or hospitals.
Surjit Singh, a resident of New Delhi, was the kingpin.
Further police investigation is in progress.
