Foo Fighters to play in South Africa for first time

Los Angeles, June 25 (IANS) Rock band Foo Fighters thrilled their South African fans by announcing they will perform in the country for the first time in their 20-year career.

The "Everlong" hitmakers will play in Cape Town Dec 10, followed by Johannesburg Dec 13, reports contactmusic.com.

In a video uploaded on Twitter.com, frontman Dave Grohl said: "Hey South Africa, my name's Dave. I play in a band called the Foo Fighters. We've never met, so we're coming down to see you in December.

"Got a new record to pay for you too. Guess what? It's going to be a long f***ing night."

The band's eighth album "Lanterns" is expected to release later this year.
