An attempt to replace Choppers with Flying Medicine Boxes
Even though, India is the largest provider of generic drugs globally, the delayed supply of medicines during natural calamities within the country result in human loss. This triggered the students of CGC Landran to develop a long range flying medicine box. Gavakshit verma, Nikhil Randev, Baljinder and Divesh are final year mechanical students who started working on the project with an aim to enhance the supply of medicines and food during natural calamities. The flying and foldable toolbox has the capacity to carry 3kg of weight and can be a much cheaper replacement to the high cost choppers.
The rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery just takes 25 minutes to get charged with an equal endurance time. With an ability to work on GPS Coordinates, the device also has a location detector embedded to it. The folding mechanism offers an added advantage to its usability.
While briefing about the development Gavakshit verma said, “Indian armed forces use choppers in case of calamities but that sometimes result in loss of pilot’s life. Also, the expenditure on fuel is too high. Our drone has the capacity to fly upto a similar height with nullified human loss”. We have spent Rs. 1.6 lakh on the project till now. Out of which, we have received 75k from Department of science and technology, Government of India. While rest of the money has been raised by winning various national and international technical events like Tech xion, Drone racing, Pushpa Gujral Science city and others” he added.
“We can easily replace choppers with these medicine boxes. They have the tendency to reach narrow locations with limited technical knowledge required to operate it” said Nikhil Randev.
The students are keen on enhancing the project by adding the latest technology of Artificial Intelligence to their device. This will automate the device for takeoff and turn around.
