Ethical use of vote our right and duty- District Election Officer

Ludhiana, January 25, 2017: A district level National Voter day was celebrated at Govt. College (Girls), Ludhiana. Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Sh.Ravi Bhagat presided over the function. The first time voters were distributed the voter cards. They were also motivated for the ethical use of voting. Smt.Mohinder Kaur Grewal, Principal of the college, welcomed the esteemed guests.

Addressing the gathering, Sh. Bhagat reminded everyone about the struggle done for the freedom of the country. He said that our ancestors have struggled a lot for the freedom of the country. We have to struggle for the democratic spirit and prosperity, this all can happen through the ethical use of vote. Casting of vote is our right and duty. He inspired to have a positive thinking. He said that fundamental duties and fundamental rights are equally important. Sh. Gagandeep Singh Virk ( District Development and Panchayat Officer cum Returning Officer assembly constituency Gill), Best Nodal Officer Smt. Mohinder Kaur Grewal, Best B.L.O. Sh. Deepak Sharma and Sh. Charanjeet Singh Kainth (Nodal officer- sveep activities) were rewarded for their extraordinary efforts to aware voters. Besides, group leader of Ínitiators of Change’ Sh. Gauravdeep Singh and his entire team, Sh. Pritpal Singh Chandok and his entire team of 01 Synergy’company, Lyricist and singer Sh. Gurpreet Singh Kaunke and Sh. Tinku Sultani, the oldest voter (105 years) Smt. Kartar Kaur were also rewarded.

Additional Deputy Commissioner(w) cum Additional District Election officer Ms. Apneet Riyat made the voters take the pledge regarding the ethical use of voting. Elections Observers made their special presence in the meeting. Videos related to Sveep Activities were also shown on the occasion. Declamation contests, Slogan writing contests, Essay writing contests and poster manking contests were also conducted and the winners were distributed prizes.
