Ludhiana, November 30, 2017: The Potential Linked Credit Plan 2018-19 was launched by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Deputy Commissioner,Ludhiana in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Mrs Surabhi Malik, Mr. Anoop Singh Chawla, LDM, Mr. Vijay Kumar Director RSETTI, Mr. Harkanwaljit Singh DDPO and other senior officials of District administration today. The total credit potential under Priority Sector for 2018-19 has been estimated at Rs. 4706617.06 lakh for Ludhiana district. The PLP also reflects the block level projections for various activities.
Mr. Parveen Bhatia, DDM, NABARD , Ludhiana informed that NABARD has been preparing Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) for each district since 1989-90 with the objective to assess exploitable potential through credit dispensation under various sectors. It is also an assessment of gaps in infrastructure support which need to be filled to fully exploit the realizable potentials. This is a systematic exercise carried out by adopting participative and consultative approach, involving all stakeholders in the agriculture and rural development in order to provide a meaningful link between the development planning and credit planning process. PLP projections for 2018-19 have been prepared keeping in view the Priority Sector Guidelines and revision in unit costs of various investment activities, scale of finance, priorities of Govt. of India and State Govt., initiatives in the development plan of the district, trends in institutional credit flow at ground level and other relevant factors. NABARD has adopted the theme for this year’s PLP as “Water Conservation –per drop more crop”. In this context NABARD had launched water campaign to cover the over exploited/water stressed areas in the district.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Deputy Commissioner , Ludhiana while speaking of launch of Potential Linked Credit Plan 2018-19 stressed that to meet the expectations of the farmers and non-cultivators, it is imperative and desirable that various development agencies – Banks, Extension Agencies, Line Departments of the State Govt, KVK, and other State Level Agriculture and Research Agencies work in tandem with each other to achieve the developmental objectives of the district including Employment Generation, Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture with processing and marketing linkages and focus on MSE Sector.
