Employee facing graft case not be given public dealing post in Punjab

Chandigarh, August 26, 2014: The Punjab Government has directed all the departments to refrain from deputing an employee on the same post, where he has been nabbed by vigilance bureau in a graft case. This step has been taken to ensure the transparent and corruption free administration. Departments have also been instructed not to depute such employees on a public dealing post till they are facing trial in corruption case.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Department said that it has come to the notice of the government that some departments depute the under trial employee on the same post where from he was nabbed by the Vigilance Bureau red handed in graft case. He said that in such a case the under trial employee could temper with the official documents and exercise his influence over the complainant and official witnesses pertaining to his graft case.

The spokesperson further said that departments have also been instructed not to depute such employees on any public dealing post till the graft case is decided and the employee has been exonerated by the court. He said that deputing such under trial employees on a public dealing post could cast adverse effect in the eyes of general public besides disseminating wrong message among the other employees of the department.
