AAP demands resignation of Jiyani and Sidhu

Ludhiana, November 24, 2014: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a protest against the alleged gross negligence on behalf of the doctors and staff of Civil Hospital, Ludhiana which led to the tragic loss of five newborns. 

Condemning the actions of the doctors and staff of the civil hospital as “criminal”, the AAP District Convener, Ahbaab Singh Grewal said that such alleged carelessness and negligent behavior on the part of the doctors and staff was unacceptable and it seemed that the lives of people and children mattered the least to these people. 

He added AAP demands the resignation of Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jiyani and CPS Novjot Kaur Sidhu (Department of Health & Family Welfare) as both of them have severely failed in their duty of providing even the basic life saving facilities in government run hospitals, as they cannot even ensure the presence of doctors in hospitals. It is due to the failings at the top level that the health and family welfare department which have the duty to provide the very basic facilities to the poor are totally defunct. 

  He said AAP also demands that strict action should be taken against all erring officials and they should be booked for their criminal negligence. Along with this compensation and proper medical care should be given to the aggrieved women.
