Educational trip to government rehabilitation institute for intellectual disabilities
Educational trips give a chance to the students to build closer bond with their classmates and to experience new environments Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized an Educational Trip to Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities, Chandigarh. The trip was organized by the PG Department of Psychology. During the visit, students gained knowledge about various intellectual disabilities like Autism, Dyslexia, Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy etc. Students were also given practical exposure of the various rehabilitation techniques used by the special educators. Different units of intervention strategies like occupational therapy, speech therapy, pre primary care, physiotherapy & psychological evaluation and treatment strategies were also shown to the students. Students were also demonstrated that how the vocational training and special educators rehabilitate the children with intellectual deficits in work settings to live with the mainstream of society. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that such visits are must for students of any stream as these trips enrich learning experiences and they also leave a lasting impression on the minds of the students. She further maintained that educational trips give a chance to the students to build closer bond with their classmates and to experience new environments. She lauded the efforts of the PG department of Psychology for organizing this educational trip.
